I cannot with the memory loss this dumb poll caused

Brittana started off as best friends sleeping together canonically since Season 1. The first 13 episodes were written before the show went on air, so RIB didn’t have any fan feedback. Duets came off as a surprise to everyone because no one was actively campaigning for anything and no one ever thought they’d take them seriously. The fandom was content with background action at that point. Ryan Murphy said in an interview that he got tons of hate mail because of that episode and Brittana was called a “disgusting gay teen sex romp”.

Some time later, Ryan did another interview in which he said that after The Rocky Horror Glee Show the show had changed themes to accommodate (I’d say cater to) the younger audience. They suddenly backtracked on Brittana but no one uproared yet. The first uproar/campaign started after A Very Glee Christmas, when it was clear that they dropped the storyline after they planted the seeds in Duets.

It’s not polls that gave us Brittana. No one was forced to give us Brittana. Naya wanted it and supported it from the very beginning, Heather was anticipating that she’d get a script about their love storyline in the early days - and RIB came up with Duets by themselves. The fandom only got in serious action when they dropped the ball because everyone wanted to know the reason why they left us high and dry. Sexy happened afterwards.

Faberry is a whole other thing altogether. Vote for who you want but don’t rewrite history.
